Deleting Your Inispo Account
Last updated: September 2026
You can delete your Inispo account at any time, and you do not need to ask us for permission or wait for approval. This page explains exactly how to do it, what happens the moment you do, what we delete, and what we are legally required to keep.
There is one exception. While an account is under a fraud or security review, you cannot close it yourself in the app or on the website, and you close the account by asking our support team, who will do it once the review is finished. We do this because closing an account and registering again with the same email address reopens the original account, which would set aside the review. It does not remove your right to close the account, and it does not affect any refund you are owed. Section 6 covers erasure requests, which are handled the same way.
1. How to Delete Your Account
From the Inispo mobile app (fastest):
- Open the Inispo app and sign in.
- Go to the Profile tab.
- Scroll to Account Actions and tap Delete Account.
- Read what happens when you delete, then tick the confirmation box.
- Enter your account password. We ask for it so that nobody else can close your account from an unlocked handset.
- Tap Delete My Account and confirm.
From the Inispo website:
- Sign in at inispo.com.
- Open the account menu and choose Your profile, then the Security tab.
- Under Close your account, choose Continue to close my account.
- Read what happens when you delete, then tick the confirmation box.
- Confirm that it is you. If you sign in with an email address and password, enter your password. If you sign in with Google, you have no Inispo password: choose Email me a code and enter the 6-digit code we send to your email address. The code expires after 10 minutes. We ask for this so that nobody else can close your account from a device that is already signed in.
- Choose Close my account and confirm.
If your account is under review, or you cannot use the app or the website:
Email support@inispo.com from the address registered to your account, with the subject "Account Deletion Request". We will verify that you own the account and complete the deletion for you. We aim to respond within 24 hours and to complete verified requests within 30 days.
2. Before You Delete
Deleting your account cannot be undone, and a few things are worth checking first:
- Spend or note down any gift cards in your wallet. Once your account is closed you can no longer sign in to view your card codes, and unspent balances are not refunded.
- Check for orders still in progress. If an order has not yet been delivered to your wallet, wait for it to complete or contact support first.
- You cannot reuse the same email address. Coming back to Inispo later means registering a new account from scratch — your history, preferences and wallet do not return.
3. What Happens Immediately
Deletion takes effect at once. There is no grace period and no waiting list:
- You are signed out on every device, not just the one you used to delete the account.
- All active sessions are revoked, so an app that is still open loses access on its very next request.
- Sign-in is disabled — neither your email and password nor Sign in with Google will work.
- Your wallet, order history and profile are no longer accessible to you or to anyone else.
- Marketing emails, push notifications and SMS messages stop.
4. What We Delete
Once your account is closed we remove or permanently disable the data that exists only to run your account:
- Your sign-in credentials and authentication records.
- Your profile photo, display name, country, currency and language preferences.
- Your device tokens for push notifications.
- Your marketing, email and SMS preferences.
- Any saved settings held on your device, which are cleared by the app as part of the deletion.
5. What We Keep, and Why
We cannot delete everything, and we would rather be straight with you about it than pretend otherwise. UK law requires us to keep records of completed transactions even after an account is closed. These records are retained under our legal obligations (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(c)) and are not used to market to you or to build a profile of you.
- Purchase and transaction records — 6 years. Required by HMRC for tax and accounting purposes.
- Account records associated with those transactions — 6 years after closure. Required for tax and regulatory compliance.
- Anti-fraud and security records — for as long as necessary to protect Inispo, our partners and other customers from fraud and abuse.
- Support communications — up to 3 years after your enquiry is resolved.
- Usage and analytics data — up to 2 years, held in anonymised form that is no longer linked to you.
We never sell your personal data, and closing your account does not change that. Full detail of how we store and protect data is in our Privacy Policy.
6. Requesting Full Erasure
Deleting your account through the app or the website closes it and ends all access. If you additionally want us to erase the personal data we still hold, you can exercise your right to erasure under UK GDPR Article 17 by emailing support@inispo.com.
We will erase everything we are not legally obliged to retain, tell you plainly what remains and why, and respond within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
7. How We Store Your Data
For as long as we hold it, your data is protected by the same measures described in our Privacy Policy and Security pages:
- Stored within the UK and European Economic Area on Amazon Web Services infrastructure.
- Encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3, and encrypted at rest using AWS Key Management Service.
- Access restricted by role-based controls, so only staff with a genuine need can reach it.
- Payment card details are never stored by Inispo — they are handled by our PCI DSS-compliant payment partners.
8. Questions
If anything here is unclear, or you would like help before deciding, email support@inispo.com or use our Contact Us form. We are happy to answer questions about deletion without any expectation that you go through with it.
